Our Nation’s Capital Washington DC

On the road once again….this year, unlike last year when we were out west, our driving time between destinations is not very long. This leg of our journey started from Virginia Beach to DC which was about a 4.5 hour drive, including a gas stop. Here we are in our nation’s capital! We were surprisedContinue reading “Our Nation’s Capital Washington DC”

Wilmington, North Carolina

We’re making our way north and have entered into North Carolina, heading for Wilmington. No historic tours this time – but Marj and I found some time for our favorite pastime, perusing the antique stores! While we were shopping, the guys headed for Battleship North Carolina, manned by 3,000 marines and navy servicemen and officers.Continue reading “Wilmington, North Carolina”

James Island County Park, Charleston, South Carolina

This is a fantastic county park campground. It is large with multiple aspects to the park, including a campground. The live oak lined streets with their spanish moss cascading down are a welcome site each and every time. The people here always prove themselves among some of the friendliest andContinue reading “Savannah, Georgia – One of the Deep South’s most beautiful cities!”

Our nation’s oldest city….St. Augustine, FL – founded in 1565

It’s unanimous….we all enjoyed St. Augustine. The first day there, Howie and I took a quick trip to the coast. We first toured through Anastasia State Park. This is a really nice state park with camping and beach access. It’s so popular that it’s really difficult to get in – that’s why we’re staying atContinue reading “Our nation’s oldest city….St. Augustine, FL – founded in 1565”

As Willie Nelson sang so well….We’re “on the road again”!

First, let me say that this post was actually written on day 1 of our trip. Since I’m posting it on July 10th, and you’ve done the math, you realize that it is only 10 days late. Our first stop was in an isolated state park and there was NO INTERNET. Our next stop wasContinue reading “As Willie Nelson sang so well….We’re “on the road again”!”
