What’s in Waco? Something as sweet as Magnolias!

Yes, we are in Waco, Texas and YES, we are at Magnolia Silos!! We couldn’t be in Texas without planning a stop in Waco. Most of you have probably heard of Chip and Joanna Gaines, creators and stars of “Fixer Upper”, a home improvement show. This is the town where they live and own The Market at the Silos, retail shop; Magnolia Table, a restaurant; The Silos Baking Co, and several Bed and Breakfast homes. We figured it would be fun to take a quick look/see, but we didn’t figure on doing it when the temperature was nearly 100 degrees – but that’s just what we did. Even so, we had fun and even got a little Christmas shopping in!

It’s crazy busy and crowded here – probably not the best idea to be here on a Saturday afternoon, but when we planned our itinerary, we didn’t realize that we would be here for the weekend……and they are CLOSED on Sunday! Since we leave on Monday, we had only Saturday to explore.

Well, that’s the outside….now for the inside! We’ll start with the Bakery and move to the Market.

AND THEN THERE’S THE MARKET…..

JUST A FEW MORE PHOTOS TO SHARE…..

Unfortunately, we were not able to eat at Magnolia Table….believe it or not, neither Marj nor I thought to make reservations!! When we checked on line, the next possible opening was in 2 1/2 weeks! It pays to prepare ahead. But we did get a few photos!

We had a fun day at Magnolia and it’s someplace you won’t want to miss if ever in the area – especially if you like to shop!

The next day, Marj and I made the rounds through the local antique shops, but there was one that really stood out. C and M Antiques, owned by Charles and Mary, had a huge and very interesting inventory full of unique and quality pieces. They are a very nice couple and have been in the business 25 years after Charles retired from IBM. Marj and I were not the only special couple that shopped there…..one other couple stood out for them as well. (Note the far right pic)

Here are a few pictures that will give you an idea of how many antiques they have. Be sure to stop here if you like to nose around antique stores…..and be prepared to get a great big hug when you leave – we did!

So once again, today we depart and plan to travel towards New Orleans, LA. (Getting closer to home!) But before we leave, Marj and I got a wee bit more shopping in…..after all, we HAD to go to Harp Design. Clint Harp, woodworker, has been featured many times on Fixer Upper and he has a very cute little shop in Waco. So we found a few little things then hit the road.

That’s all for now, folks. NOLA here we come. Until the next time…..HAPPY TRAILS!!

    1. I remember you telling me you went, Cheri. But if I remember right you commented that going once was enough……I agree, but it was fun!
